Great Gift Idea for Seniors - The “Flameless Candle”

Finding a unique present for your parents isn’t easy. This past holiday season I faced the same challenge I have for many years. “What can I surprise them with”?
My mom and dad don’t NEED anything. They’ve been in the process of “down-sizing” for about 10 years. I not only wanted to surprise them, but I wanted to get something that was age appropriate, safe, portable & light weight, and worth packing up if they ever move. My mother told me years ago “Don’t buy me anything else that I have to dust”! That took a lot of options away.
Mission accomplished! This year the perfect gift was a “Flameless Candle”. Mother’s always enjoyed candles but I think as time has gone by, she has lit them less and less. I can’t say exactly why. She’s never divulged the reason, but I have hoped it was just good sense and the awareness that she might forget about it, or somehow, something might happen, and a fire might start.
On the phone the other night, my mother was the first to express how much she was enjoying the candle. She’d had it turned on with other lights on in the room, but it was most impressive when the lights were off. She told me how it switches colors and described it as being “mesmerizing”.
My father got on the phone later, and the first thing he wanted to talk about was “that candle you sent up here for Christmas”. Now to hear my father (who never seemingly was very inspired by any particular candles in the past), proceed to tell me how beautiful this candle was, was a total surprise.
He said, “It takes 2 AA batteries and all you do is turn it on. It has two settings; one makes the colors change and the other one will let you set it on the color you want it to stay on. “Oh Janie. You should see it! It’s blue, purple, dark purple, red, orange…. It’s every color and combination of colors you can imagine. It’s really something. You can pick it up. It doesn’t get hot! You could take it and put it anyplace you’d want”.
Daddy said he thought my niece could even use one somehow to help her teach her art classes at school. Maybe she could.
Listening to my father, I realized how great these Flameless Candles really are. Not only are they safe, portable, light - weight, and pretty, but it seems they may have other unanticipated benefits.
A candle that is “mesmerizing” might actually be good for your blood pressure. It could help people to fall asleep. Maybe they wouldn’t need to take a sleeping pill. Most people would enjoy not having to take any more pills than they already do!
It’s a quiet sensorial stimulus. The candle makes no noise.
Did I mention this candle is also lightly scented? I chose Lavender because it’s one of my mother’s favorite scents. The candle itself is a shade of lavender, and her favorite color is purple. There are other scents and colors to choose from, and different sizes too.
Let’s just say this candle was a big hit and worth every penny. I forgot to say how reasonably priced it was.
Since this is my web site and I can write about whatever I want, I decided to share this “Perfect gift” idea with you the reader. I don’t know who the inventor is, or who the manufacturer is, but I can give you the web site link where you can read all about this wonderful gift I found. Next birthday or holiday, you might want to buy one for your parents too, or, yourself!
