"This is attorney Fred Smith calling. I am the legally responsible party for Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brown. Mr. Brown is at the Community Hospital recovering from hip surgery. He's worried about his wife who is home alone because he's been her primary care giver. She's forgetful, hasn't been eating well, and has circulatory problems. I'm wondering if you can go see how she's doing and let me know if I need to make other arrangements, and what our options might be. I understand my legal obligations to the Browns, but I don't know what to expect medically as far as Mr. Brown's recovery goes, or how to deal with his wife's problems."
Answer:
"Yes I can go visit Mrs. Brown. Please call her and let her know I will be there at 2pm this afternoon. I will call you after my visit to let you know what my assessment of her situation is. We can discuss her options, and you can let me know which way you'd like to proceed.
Mr. Brown will most likely be discharged from the hospital to a rehab facility. I can visit him in the hospital now, and afterwards when he is transferred to a facility. This will help to ensure that none of his needs are being overlooked or slipping through the cracks. He will also know that someone else is looking out for his best interests, which will probably make him feel a bit more secure.
These visits will help you to determine how to provide the best possible options to the Browns with regard to their health, finances, and other future planning you may need to do. I can coordinate services and oversee the service providers, reporting back to you on a regular basis."
