The Citizens Advisory Committee on Aging serves to advise and assist the City with issues which affect our Senior population. In this past year of service, our Committee has voted to pursue two major issues.

The first issue is the establishment of a non-profit 501 C3 corporation.

The second issue we thought would have important implications to quality of life for Seniors, was to participate in a statewide initiative called Communities for a Lifetime©. Information was provided to our City Manager, and our City Council voted to make an official proclamation of intent to participate. This proclamation was received by the State at the Dept. of Elder Affairs. We're currently in the initial stages of a process which after full assessment of our services and amenities, will lead us to being officially designated as a "Community for a Lifetime©". For further information on this statewide initiative:

As current Chairperson of this committee, I look forward to progress we will make on both of these projects in 2004. Communities for a Lifetime© Update 1/28/04
